View Royal Nurse Manager

Surgical Centres Inc (SCI) is the leading provider of non-hospital surgical and medical care in Canada and operates facilities in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan.

SCI is seeking a dynamic Nurse Manager for its new, state of the art facility, in Victoria, B.C., providing Endoscopy and Surgical Services. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, and working in partnership with the Medical Director, the successful individual will be responsible for ensuring quality patient care through the day to day management of the Day Surgery Unit, the Operating Rooms, Endoscopy Unit, Medical Device Reprocessing, and the Post-Anaesthetic Care Unit, providing direction, training and support to an inter-professional team including nursing, medical and support staff.

The Nurse Manager will work independently and as a member of a team, and will be the key contact with our regional health partners. Responsibilities include Human Resource management, including establishing and maintaining standards of practice, staff scheduling, and ongoing staff development; management of Quality Improvement activities; management of expenditures against approved budgets; and performance of clinical duties in the PAR, OR or Day Surgery area as required.

Qualifications:
  • Self-directed and highly motivated and ability to function effectively in dynamic situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills (problem-solving, conflict resolution and change management skills).
  • Graduation from an accredited Registered Nursing Program
  • Current and active registration with the province of BC, or eligible for registration
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in an OR/PACU environment.
  • Perioperative and/or critical care/post-anesthesia recovery room nursing certification program an asset
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP); ACLS, PALS/ENCP an asset
  • Previous supervisory experience of inter-professional staff is an asset

Operating Room Nurses (RN)

Location/FTE:

Casual, part-time and full-time positions currently available at all SCI centres

Job Summary:

Responsible for providing perioperative patient care, the individual will demonstrate competence in delivering safe, competent, and ethical care in both a scrub and circulating role in an integrated team.

Qualifications:
  • Current registration with appropriate provincial regulatory body
  • Graduate from an approved School of Nursing, baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred
  • Must have current operating room experience or have successfully completed a perioperative course (within the past year)
  • Current BCLS certification required
  • ACLS certification an asset
  • Current scrub and circulating skills
  • Complies with patient safety standards


Operating Room Technicians (ORT)

Job Summary :

Responsible for providing perioperative patient care. Within scope of responsibility, the individual will deliver safe, and ethical care in a scrub role in an integrated team.

Qualifications:
  • Current registration with appropriate provincial regulatory body
  • Must have a post graduate operating room course from approved college
  • Minimum 2 year current O.R. experience preferred
  • Current BCLS certification required
  • Complies with patient safety standards
  • Proven excellent team member with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
