Dr. G. Mohamed Nanji is a founding partner and current President and CEO of Surgical Centres Inc. The exponential growth and success of SCI over the past 30 years is attributed to Dr. Nanji’s entrepreneurial leadership and collaboration with multiple stakeholders including regional health authorities, physicians, support staff, and investors.
Dr. Nanji attended the University of Nairobi (Kenya) where he earned his medical degree. In 1985, he started his Anesthesia residency in Syracuse, New York and completed his residency Calgary and earned his Canadian Fellowship.
In 2012, Dr. Nanji was granted the ICD.D designation jointly developed by the Institute of Corporate Directors and the University of Toronto Rotman School of Management.
In 2017, Dr Nanji was awarded the Calgary Business Leaders Award for his entrepreneurial achievements.
Fatima began her career in healthcare working at the Calgary General Hospital, a two-site acute care hospital encompassing over 1,500 beds. She served as the Business Manager, Department of Rehabilitation.
Fatima joined SCI in 1996 as Senior Operating Officer at which time the organization operated three out-patient surgical facilities. She was appointed Chief Operating Officer in 2008. Through her leadership, working directly with the President and CEO, the organization has grown to seven facilities across the three western provinces.
Key focus of Fatima’s role is building and maintaining strategic relationships and liaison with various regional health authorities and third party entities and contract compliance. She also oversees new service opportunities and delivery, operational management implementation of corporate strategy.
As the Vice President, Finance for SCI, Leslie is responsible for all financial activities related to the business. Leslie has extensive experience in the areas of accounting and finance, primarily within the oil and gas industry. Most recently, Leslie held positions of increasing responsibility with an EPC organization, responsible for treasury, tax, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting and financial risk management. Leslie holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta as well as a Certified Management Accountant designation.
Prior to joining SCI, Sameer held various positions at two multinational software companies and most recently he was the North American Product Manager for Software at a large multi-national. Throughout his career, Sameer has a proven track record of improving efficiencies while reducing costs.
As Vice President of Infrastructure, IT and Projects, Sameer is responsible for overseeing construction and maintenance of SCI facilities. He is responsible for the Supply Chain management and maintenance contracts for organization . As well as developing and implementing the technology roadmap for SCI. Recently, Sameer was the Project Manager for the construction of the View Royal Surgical which involved managing the construction schedule, sourcing and managing the procurement of all equipment and instrumentation.
